Une commande pour la NUIT BLANCHE 2009

PRÉSENTATION 
Depuis 50 ans, la cité du Chaperon Vert à Arceuil a permis le logement de nombreux foyers.Qui sont ces personnes ? Quelle est leur histoire ? Quelles histoires nous racontent-elles ? Pour répondre à ces questions, Véronique Caye s’intéresse auxarchives invisibles du Chaperon Vert : tout ce qui n’est pas quantifiable, ce qui est de l’ordre du sensible - parole, mémoire, souvenir et vie quotidienne.

Pour collecter ces documents, elle a rencontré une cinquantaine d’habitants âgés de 6 à 90 ans. Certains ont témoigné dans l’ombre, d’autres lui ont livré face à la caméra leurs archives personnelles, ces histoires qui évoquent le plus justement l’invisible, l'expérience intime de la vie dans une cité HLM.

Ces portraits filmés constituent la matière d’une installation vidéo projetée sur la façade de l’immeuble de 11 étages dont la destruction a été décidée lors du projet de modernisation du quartier. L'expérience de l’invisible trouve ainsi son équivalent plastique dans la projection sur l’extérieur du bâtiment de son intériorité.

For 50 years, the Chaperon Vert housing project has been home to many households. Who are these people ? What is their experience? What are their stories ? To answer these questions, Véronique Caye looks into the invisible archives of the Chaperon Vert : all that is not measurable, that has to do with the senses – speech, memory, remembrance and every day life.
To collect these documents, she met with 50 inhabitants from ages 6 to 90. Some chose to speak under a cloak of darkness, while others opted to speak openly to the camera the camera about their personal archives and these stories that have to do with the invisible and private life in an urban project.
 These filmed portrayals are the centerpiece of a video installation that is projected onto the front of an 11-story building, whose destruction has been planned in the context of the neighborhood’s renovation. The experience of the invisible thereby finds its physical translation in the projection of the buildings inner nature onto its façade.
